CenterPoint Properties has announced the acquisition and construction of a 31.88-acre intermodal site and the construction of a 485,500-square-foot Class A facility, respectively, in Joliet. Adam Roth and Dan Leahy of NAI Hiffman represented CenterPoint Properties in the transaction.
Located only half a mile from the Union Pacific Joliet Intermodal Terminal and designed with flexibility in mind by Cornerstone Architects, the general contractor for the building is Morgan/Harbour Construction. “This acquisition further proves our commitment to a thriving industrial market, serving our mission of investment in port, rail and intermodal-related facilities,” said Vice President of Infrastructure and Logistics Jeremy Grey. “The cross loaded building with dual access to the private road makes this facility ideal for intermodal users and tenants desiring logistical and drayage savings.”
The new development expands CenterPoint’s portfolio at the flagship location in Joliet by offering a state-of-the-art space inside of the secure and private property. The facility will boast more than 111 loading docks, 70-foot speed bays, 222 auto and 133 trailer parking spaces and a divisible floor plan, catering to meet the demands of clients who require immediate adjacency to rail, close proximity to Intersate 55 and Interstate 80 and low drayage charges.
