“Global Trade” magazine has named Elk Grove Village as a 2014 Best American City for Global Trade. The magazine recognized that the Village offers an optimal setting for globally minded companies that are looking to strategically locate, grow and expand their operations.
Elk Grove was one of just ten communities in the U.S. to be honored in the Business Environment category for providing a setting and the resources to help businesses thrive.
Elk Grove Village drives the local and regional industrial supply chain network by virtue of its location adjacent to O’Hare International Airport and accessibility to all major interstates serving Chicagoland including I-90, I-290, I-355, and I-390. Home to the largest consolidated business park in the Unites States, the Village has the largest concentration of manufacturers and logistics companies in the region and continually develops unique resources to support their success.
An example is EGVbizhub.com, an online portal that streamlines communications with the Village and local companies. The Village also hosts the Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing & Technology Expo, an annual networking event that brings local businesses together to collaborate. Furthermore, Elk Grove’s Fast Track Permitting process allows for many permits to be applied for online and issued in one day with more complex permit applications being reviewed and turned around in less than ten days.
“Being singled out as one of the best communities in the U.S. for global trade affirms our many efforts to be ‘Beyond Business Friendly’ here in Elk Grove,” said Mayor Craig B. Johnson. “From investing in our infrastructure to offering powerful resources, we truly work with businesses that want to relocate or expand here.”
A commitment to being an “Exceptional Community” has garnered the Village many prestigious local and national awards including: • Relocate-America.com named Elk Grove Village as one of the top 100 places to live in the United States • In 2003 Chicago Magazine ranked Elk Grove Village as the “Best Hometown” in Chicagoland • Elk Grove Village being named as one of the top 50 fabulous places in the United States to raise a family • Citiesjournal.com rated Elk Grove Village the third best municipality in Illinois for quality of life The Village has also received five Illinois Governor’s Hometown Awards; recognition by the American Public Works Association for best projects; a “Soles and Spokes” bicycling award; economic development marketing awards, innovation awards, and countless other honors.
Each year, the editors at Global Trade magazine compile the list of “America’s Best Cities for Global Trade” — which totals 100 cities. “That may sound like a lot of cities, but when you consider that there are some 30,000 cities in the U.S., being named as a top 100 for global trade is pretty rarefied air,” said Patrick Dooley, Global Trade editor.
