IllinoisRetail Graycor completes construction on Oak Brook restaurant, The Table at Crate November 8, 2019 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share via email Graycor Construction Company has completed the construction of The Table at Crate restaurant at Oakbrook Center in Oak Brook, Illinois. The new restaurant occupies the space that formerly housed Crate and Barrel’s Land of Nod children’s space. The housewares retailer added the restaurant, which features products that can be purchased in the store, to enhance the customer experience and bring customers to the store. “We were excited to partner with Crate and Barrel to incorporate many of their design elements into the new restaurant space that provides an opportunity for customers to experience Crate and Barrel’s unique design and products,” said Jyot Parmar, Graycor Construction manager. “The Table at Crate is a product of a beautiful design, meticulous planning and careful execution. We were pleased to be able to keep the store open throughout construction and create minimal disruption to the remainder of the shopping center.” The first phase of the Crate and Barrel project included the demolition and partitioning of the existing Crate and Barrel Studio retail space and the construction of a new housewares retail space. During the second phase, the Graycor team demolished the former housewares retail area to build the new kitchen, dining and bar areas. The design and construction include many elements that are Crate and Barrel standards, such as the use of mixed materials from pine-board ceiling to Western red cedar siding to color solid stained hardwood flooring. The design also includes clean lines in all three planes. “Crate and Barrel selected Graycor as our construction partner for our first food and beverage project, based on our long-standing relationship and our confidence in Graycor to deliver this fast-paced, collaborative project on time, on budget and without disruption to our store operations and patrons,” said John Moebes, senior director of construction with Crate and Barrel. CTA, Inc. served as the architect on the project. Euro Market Designs dba Crate and Barrel is the owner of the project. The Table at Crate opened during summer of 2019, and the retailer plans to roll out 10 to 15 additional restaurants in its top-performing locations to help draw more customers into its stores.
