John Philipchuck has joined Harrison Street Real Estate Capital (“HSRE” or “Firm”) as an Assistant Vice President in the Firm’s Research group. Prior to joining HSRE, John led real estate research and strategy at Government of Singapore (“GIC”) for the Americas region, which spanned all property types and included private and public equity and debt investments. John played an integral role in guiding GIC’s global investment strategy and developed in-house market research and forecasts for potential investments in the Americas. GIC is one of the largest sovereign wealth funds in the world with assets of more than $320 billion.
“We are excited that John has joined the team,” stated Tom Errath, Head of Research for HSRE. “John brings a tremendous amount of institutional real estate research investment experience to this role in addition to his prior real estate operations and development experience. His analytical mindset and ability to translate data into actionable investment decisions will bode well for the Firm.”
Based on significant since inception investment and realization activity – $9.0 billion and $2.5 billion, respectively, HSRE believes that it is the largest real estate private equity firm focused exclusively on investments in the Education, Healthcare, and Storage sectors. The Research function plays a key role throughout HSRE’s investment life cycle and complements the activities of the Investment and Asset Management functions. Relative to the traditional real estate sectors, research for HSRE’s sectors of focus is not widely available and thus the Firm has developed a proprietary process for extracting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
