Hunt Midwest Real Estate Development is breaking ground on the first phase of the SubTropolis Technology Center, an underground data center campus in Kansas City, Mo. LightEdge Solutions, a cloud-computing, colocation and consulting company, will be the anchor tenant for the technology center.
Hunt Midwest will own and operate SubTropolis Technology Center.
LightEdge will open the first phase of its 60,000-square-foot underground operation within the technology center during the first quarter of 2014.
“Together, Hunt Midwest and LightEdge have all of the pieces needed to create a world-class data center operation,” said Ora Reynolds, president of Hunt Midwest, in a written statement.
SubTropolis Technology Center has a hardened limestone infrastructure that is six times stronger than concrete. It also features evenly spaced pillars with 40-foot clearance and 16-foot-high ceilings.
