McShane Construction Company has been awarded the Phase II construction of The Lodge of Northbrook on behalf of Omaha-based developer Essex Communities.  The new luxury senior living development is located on a six-acre site at 2220 Founders Drive in Northbrook.

The property has been constructed on land owned by The Society of The Divine Word, an international Catholic missionary order that settled the land in 1899.

After successfully completing the 58-unit Phase I of The Lodge of Northbrook, McShane was selected to provide the comprehensive construction services of the 37,880-square-foot Phase II component that will incorporate 20 newly configured residential units consisting of one- and two-bedroom and two-bedroom with den floor plan options.  Each residence will be fully equipped with high-end finishes and fixtures including contemporary stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, in-unit washers and dryers, large closets, extended ceiling heights and a private patio or terrace.

McShane will construct the four-story second phase on the southwestern side of the existing property providing direct access to the main building and to the integrated underground parking garage that was completed by McShane in Phase I of development.  Phase II will also incorporate a separate side entrance and elevator, beauty salon, resident storage units and a guestroom suite that can be rented for short-term stays by family and friends.  The exterior of Phase II will integrate with the existing building utilizing the same masonry façade, window systems and color scheme.

“The McShane Construction team is pleased to have been awarded Phase II of this luxury independent senior community for our valued client, Essex Communities,” said Jeffrey Raday, president of McShane Construction.  “We will utilize our extensive experience in constructing fully appointed multifamily environments as we did in the first phase of this project and implement comprehensive scheduling and planning to ensure the safety of current residents and staff.”

As in Phase I, JSSH Architects Inc. will provide the architectural services for Phase II of the luxury independent senior living development.
