Sterling Bay announces first national leasing director

Chicago real estate development firm Sterling Bay has announced the hiring of veteran leasing and national expansion executive, Jesse Van Dyke, as the firm’s first Director of National Leasing. With over twenty years of experience as a top-producing commercial broker and real estate expansion strategist, Jesse is uniquely qualified to assist in building the firm’s relationships with top-tier tenants both in Chicago and nationally, as well as guiding Sterling Bay’s rapid expansion into new markets across the country.

In his new role, Van Dyke will supervise Sterling Bay leasing efforts across all outside markets, as well as supplement the efforts in Chicago, creating relationships with major national tenants and connecting Sterling Bay’s existing tenant roster with new market office opportunities. Van Dyke began his career at CBRE in 2000, specializing in tenant representation. In 2008 he joined JLL where he worked with tenants in the tech and finance sectors securing premier office space in the Chicagoland area. A Managing Director at JLL, Van Dyke represented many high-profile companies, including Bank of America in its 500,000-square- foot lease 110 N. Wacker Drive. Most recently, Van Dyke was Vice President of Real Estate at co-working giant WeWork. He led the firm’s expansion and portfolio optimization throughout the United States from 2018 – 2020.

While Van Dyke is Sterling Bay’s first national leasing hire, the firm’s work has had national reach for years. To date, Sterling Bay has acquired parcels and/or developed commercial projects in Miami’s Wynwood district, Dallas’ Deep Ellum neighborhood, Portland’s central business district and on Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington D.C. By the end of 2021, the firm intends to have expanded to an additional three markets across various regions of the United States.
