Locally based Caleres has selected Cushman & Wakefield to market the firm’s headquarters site in Clayton, Missouri.
Caleres traces its roots back to the 1870s, when it was founded in St. Louis, and the company’s headquarters has been in Clayton since the 1950s.
Exploring a headquarters’ sale enables the company to capitalize on high demand for Clayton land and top suburban sites, explore a favorable office market and create a new, modern post-pandemic workplace for its about 700 local employees.
“We have received unsolicited inquiries over the years for this very desirable downtown Clayton location,” said Ken Hannah, chief financial officer of Caleres. “That demand has only increased and presents us with an opportune time to explore selling it.
Caleres selected the Cushman & Wakefield team of executive directors Tripp Hardin and Mike Hanrahan and director Matt Stephens to market the property to developers and corporate office space occupiers on a national basis.
The site totals more than nine acres and includes a 275,000-square-foot office building at 8300 Maryland Ave., a 66,005-square-foot office building at 8400 Maryland Ave. and an adjacent parking lot on Topton Way in Clayton.
