33 Realty names Sean Connelly principal

Sean Connelly has been named principal at 33 Realty. A foremost expert in multifamily, Connelly works with owners, converters and investors to achieve investment goals. His success is reflected in career transactions valued at $400 million plus.

“Not only is Sean a great leader, but he is also an excellent broker,” said principal Drew Millard. “Professionals with his skill set are few and far between. He is an invaluable member of our team and a driving force behind company growth and culture.”

Connelly joined 33 Realty in 2014 as a managing director of investment brokerage and has played an instrumental role in the firm’s growth ever since. Under his leadership, the firm’s investment brokerage team has accomplished over $100 million in sales each year over the past three years; 33 Realty’s sister company, Cubed Construction, landed one of its largest construction projects—more than 1,000 units of student housing in Hyde Park—and 33 Realty’s property management company was awarded several management assignments including Motif on Belden which is currently being developed by Inland Real Estate Group.

A former teacher, coach and attorney, Connelly brings a methodical and logical approach to every transaction. As a result, he consistently ranks as a top middle market broker in the Chicago area. Notable career deals include the sale of the 79-unit, 932 Pleasant Street Oak Park, Illinois for $15.2 million; the Triangle Square land sale in Chicago for $21.8 million and the sale of the Iroquois Club apartment complex in Naperville, Illinois for $38 million. He works with a veritable who’s who in the business with names on his client roster such as Golub, Inland, Randolph Street, Checkmate Real Estate, Chicago Fundamental, 5T Management, Laramar and New Castle.

“Sean is well known in the marketplace with a vast network of relationships,” said principal Eric Weber. “Given his contributions to the firm over the years, the decision to bring him into the partnership was easy.”

Looking ahead, Connelly will spearhead several corporate growth initiatives in the coming months including extending 33 Realty’s brokerage reach into the suburban market, expanding its city retail leasing and sales platform, pushing further into the distressed real estate market and implementing a robust custom technology platform to aid with efficiency.

Connelly began his career at Kiser Group specializing in the disposition of mid-market, multifamily properties. He earned a bachelor of arts from Boston College and a JD with a focus in urban land use from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
