333 N. Michigan has been awarded the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB) Silver certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The property is owned by Wirtz Realty Corporation, and leased and managed by MB Real Estate.

This recent certification recognizes the numerous sustainability improvement measures implemented by Wirtz Realty Corporation and MB Real Estate, which are part of the $47 million redevelopment of the 34-story office property currently underway. LEED-EB Silver is a prestigious rating given to existing buildings for maximizing operational efficiency and minimizing environmental impacts. Green actions initiated at 333 N. Michigan include:
• Sustainable equipment- boilers, chillers, building automation system, air handling units, electrical infrastructure improvements • Installing aerators on bathroom/kitchen sinks for water conservation and reduction in energy costs • Recycling program/electronic recycling • Green cleaning
Constructed in 1928, 333 N. Michigan was one of the city’s first Art Deco skyscrapers and was designated a historical landmark in 1997 by the City of Chicago. Additional changes planned through the redevelopment will include office space modernizations, a dramatic lobby entrance, updated finishes to the lobby and elevators as well as the addition of turn-key spec suites and up to 44,000 rentable square feet of divisible high-end retail space to serve as an extension of the Mag Mile.
