Chicago-based Golub & Company, an international real estate investment and development firm, announced that 680 North Lake Shore Drive has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as one of the first multifamily properties in the country to earn ENERGY STAR certification for superior energy performance.
680 North Lake Shore Drive is one of just 17 multifamily residential properties nationwide to receive ENERGY STAR Certification, signifying that the property is more energy efficient than 75 percent of similar properties nationwide. Managed by Golub Realty Services LLC, the 2.2 million-square-foot, mixed-use building is one of the first to tap the energy efficiency potential within the multifamily housing industry.
“Golub Realty Services LLC’s achievement demonstrates that it’s possible to overcome the many traditional barriers to energy efficiency in the multifamily housing market and reap significant energy and cost savings,” said Jean Lupinacci, Chief of the ENERGY STAR program for Commercial and Industrial Buildings. “Through the example they’ve set, we see how we can all help to make properties more cost-effective for renters, while cutting greenhouse gas emissions and protecting human health.”
“By reducing energy consumption, we’re reducing greenhouse gases and helping residents or 680 North Lake Shore Drive cut their utility bills,” said Tim Conway, General Manager. “We’re honored to receive this recognition from the EPA and ENERGY STAR of our commitment to protecting the environment, serving our community, and helping families save money.”
