73 East Lake, a 42-story apartment building in Chicago’s East Loop, has been awarded LEED Gold certification from the U.S Green Building Council, announced developer M & R Development. The high rise is also more than 60 percent leased and is managed by RMK Management Corp.

“We included many eco-friendly features in 73 East Lake because we know green living is not only important to us as developer and property manager, but also to our residents,” said Anthony Rossi, Sr., president of RMK Management Corp. and M & R Development. “I think this thoughtful design – which is evident not only in the eco-friendly features but also in the apartment design and amenities – is one of the factors that has contributed to the fast pace of leasing at the property.”

Developed by M & R Development and designed by architect Solomon Cordwell Buenz (SCB), 73 East Lake’s 332 units range in size from 682 to 1,246 square feet. Plans include convertible/studio-style layouts, one-bedroom/one-bath layouts and two-bedroom/two-bath layouts.

The apartments offer a high level of interior finishes including GE stainless steel appliances and Venatino Quartz countertops in the kitchen, 9-foot ceilings, hardwood flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a full-sized in-unit washer and dryer.

“When selecting the finishes for 73 East Lake, we wanted to ensure it stood apart from other luxury towers, which is why we included unexpected touches like the movable kitchen island, and the opaque glass sliding partition in the convertibles to separate the sleeping space from the entertaining area,” Rossi said.

He also noted the building offers a number of high-tech features including built-in flat panel television support with cable management, raised power outlets, and pre-wired high speed internet in all rooms featuring Category 6 Ethernet cable. Both AT&T and Comcast services are available, and Wifi is also available throughout the building.

“Technology is such an integral part of our lives, so we wanted to have the most up-to-date tech features with flexible options for our residents,” Rossi said.

Additionally, 73 East Lake offers three floors of luxury amenities, including the 9th and 10th floors with an indoor pool; oversized spa with waterfall; sauna and steam rooms; a state-of-the-art fitness gym with separate fitness room featuring a Fitness on Request class kiosk, and a Core Fitness studio ideal for personal training sessions. There is also a business center and two conference rooms, cyber café, demonstration kitchen, a theater, and a sundeck with cabanas and a BBQ area complete with grills. Additionally, residents with pets can enjoy a heated and covered dog run and a separate pet spa.

For sweeping views of the city, residents have access to the Sky Lounge, a 2,000-square-foot event room on the building’s 42nd floor which boasts 18-foot ceilings. A private, formal dining room is also on this floor, as is a wrap-around terrace offering view of Lake Michigan and Millennium Park.

“These amenities were designed with the well-rounded urban dweller in mind. Whether working, playing, entertaining, keeping fit or spending time with a pet, the options fit any lifestyle,” Rossi said. “It’s the perfect blend of luxury and green living.”

He also noted the building’s convenient Loop location, with the CTA, shopping, dining, the Theatre District, Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park and Lake Michigan within walking distance. 73 East Lake also offers a complimentary shared bike service for residents.
