Family Church has purchased the 132,127-square-foot former Huntington Bank headquarters at 10717 Adams St. in Holland Township, Michigan, for $7 million. This will be the organization’s third location in West Michigan.
JLL senior vice president Jeff Karger represented the seller, Charlotte, North Carolina-based Arrowpoint Capital, in the deal. Steve Sterken of Coldwell Banker Woodland Schmidt represented Family Church.
The three-story building, which was constructed in 1992, sits on 41.7 acres. It features a private drive, abundant free parking and immediate access to downtown Holland and Grand Rapids via Interstate-196.
While the building currently boasts a fitness center, cafeteria, conference rooms, security offices and a loading dock, Family Church plans to use this space in a variety of new ways. The main floor will be used for both fellowship space and sanctuary worship space, while the upper floor will be used as an educational space. Plans for the lower space are still to be determined, though the church has considered using it for daycare and preschool.
This purchase represents a growing trend of adaptive reuse in the Grand Rapids market, where large office buildings are being sold and repurposed for new uses, such as hotels or apartment complexes.
Family Church plans to begin services at the new building in 2023.
