A haven for single men? It’s Minneapolis (Cincinnati and Detroit aren’t bad, either.)

All the single men? They should be living in Minneapolis.

At least that’s what a LendingTree survey on the best cities for bachelors has found.

In its study, released July 10, LendingTree researched the country’s 50 largest metropolitan areas, considering seven factors to determine which cities are best for single men:

  • The homeownership rate among men who do not have a spouse
  • Share of unmarried or separated men
  • Share of men older than 25 with at least a bachelor’s degree
  • Median annual earnings for employed men
  • Average commute time to work for men who don’t work from home
  • Median monthly rent as a share of median monthly earnings for men
  • Median monthly housing costs for owner-occupied homes with a mortgage as a share of median monthly earnings for men

According to these factors, the best large metropolitan area for men is Buffalo, New York. This western New York metropolitan area boasts the highest homeownership rate for men who don’t live with a spouse. it also has the shortest commute time of any of the big cities considered by LendingTree.

Next comes Minneapolis, which earned a second-place ranking in LendingTree’s survey. Minneapolis performed well in all of LendingTree’s factors:

  • Homeownership rate among men without a spouse present: 64.13%
  • Share of unmarried or separated men: 48.20%
  • Share of men older than 25 with at least a bachelor’s degree: 43.49%
  • Median annual earnings for employed men: $59,940
  • Average commute time to work for men who don’t work from home: 24.6 minutes
  • Median monthly rent as a share of median monthly earnings for men: 24.94%
  • Median monthly housing costs for owner-occupied homes with a mortgage as a share of median monthly earnings for men: 36.44%

Several other Midwest cities made LendingTree’s top 10 metros for single men. Cincinnati came in fourth, Detroit fifth, Cleveland sixth, Milwaukee eighth and St. Louis 10th.

And in more good news for the Midwest’s single men? Not a single Midwest city landed on LendingTree’s list of the 10 worst large metropolitan areas for single men. That list, by the way, was topped by Riverside, California; Miami, Florida; and Los Angeles.
