Hunt Midwest and Principal Senior Living Group are opening 21 memory care residences at Benton House of Olathe at 151st Street and Blackfoot Drive in Olathe, Kansas, expanding the availability of much-needed, high-quality senior housing in a growing corner of the Kansas City metro.
The expansion more than doubles the number of memory care apartments available in the community’s Beacon Neighborhood, an exclusive neighborhood within the Benton House community dedicated to seniors experiencing memory loss. Construction was completed this month with the first residents scheduled to move in to the new apartments in March. Reservations are currently being accepted.
Benton House of Olathe now offers 76 total residences, including 35 memory care apartments and 41 studio and one-bedroom assisted living suites. The community has enjoyed high occupancy for more than a year and the new apartments will help meet the growing demand for more advanced, first-class memory care services and support in the Olathe area.
Benton House of Olathe incorporates a variety of indoor and outdoor amenity spaces around three landscaped courtyards for both the traditional assisted living residents and residents in the Beacon Neighborhood.
The innovative Beacon Neighborhood design features an open design at homelike scale that is keypad-protected and large enough to create a community feel without becoming overwhelming for seniors experiencing memory loss. Higher staffing ratios and a dedicated coordinator also care for Beacon Neighborhood residents with Principal Senior Living’s “Daily Life” approach, intentionally blending familiar routines and unique events to celebrate residents’ abilities rather than focusing on loss.
Hunt Midwest and Principal Senior Living Group currently own and operate a portfolio of six assisted living and memory care communities in the Kansas City metro, including Benton House of Olathe, Benton House of Lenexa, Benton of Tiffany Springs, Benton House of Staley Hills, Benton House of Raymore, and Benton House of Blue Springs.
