The Sanders Trust announced the recent groundbreaking for a new rehabilitation hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a business unit of Lifepoint Health.

The Sanders Trust was selected as the developer of the 58,000-square-foot rehabilitation hospital, which will include 40 beds. The facility is structurally designed to create a therapeutic environment for patients and is outfitted with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units, including a brain injury unit, multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums, a specialized “activities of daily living” suite, and outdoor courtyards designed to promote patient ambulation and activity.

“This state-of-the-art facility will provide essential rehabilitative care for patients recovering from complex medical conditions, and we are honored to partner with Lifepoint Rehabilitation to enhance access to high-quality care in the region,” states Rance Sanders, President and CEO of The Sanders Trust. “The Sanders Trust is committed to developing healthcare facilities that prioritize patient recovery and innovation, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact this hospital will have on the Milwaukee community.”

The hospital will be operated by Lifepoint Rehabilitation. Lifepoint Rehabilitation will bring its personalized inpatient care model to the new facility, focusing on acute rehabilitation and recovery for patients who suffer from stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex neurological disorders, orthopedic conditions, multiple traumas, amputation and other injuries or disorders.

The future hospital will be located at 7840 South Highgate Avenue in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The Sanders Trust is working with general contractor Brasfield & Gorrie, and architect Earl Swensson Associates, Inc. on the project, expected to open in later next year.
