McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. announced an expanded executive leadership team for its Kansas City, Missouri, office, which is part of the company’s 28-state Central Region.
The team will guide continued growth and innovation in key markets including healthcare, education, science and technology, commercial, industrial, water/wastewater, and mission critical facilities.
Joe Lewandowski, recently promoted to Vice President and Business Unit Lead, will also serve as head of McCarthy’s Kansas City office. He is joined by Jeff Bennett as Director of Business Development and Brad Schoen as Vice President of Preconstruction.
McCarthy clients will benefit from the team’s proven leadership, local market insights and a collaborative, client-first approach. Both Lewandowski and Schoen have been with McCarthy for 20 years, and Bennett is an experienced construction professional with more than 30 years of industry experience, including the last five with McCarthy. Schoen has been based in Kansas City since the office’s establishment 12 years ago, providing continuity and leadership as the team has grown.
Together, these leaders bring more than 70 years of industry experience and deep knowledge of the Kansas City market as well as broader regional opportunities.
LEADERSHIP TEAM APPOINTMENTS
JOE LEWANDOWSKI, VICE PRESIDENT AND BUSINESS UNIT LEAD
In his new role, Lewandowski will play a pivotal role in advancing McCarthy’s commitment to driving real value for clients across a wide range of innovative construction practices including offsite prefabrication, self-perform capabilities and collaborative project delivery methods.
Since joining McCarthy in 2005, he has led a wide range of prominent projects across the U.S., most recently, he served as Project Director for the new 660,000-square-foot Plaza West Tower at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of the BJC Campus Renewal Project in St. Louis.
Lewandowski graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
JEFF BENNETT, DIRECTOR, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Jeff Bennett, who has more than 30 years of construction industry experience, has served as the Director of Business Development at McCarthy for more than five years. Since joining the company, he has focused on expanding its reach and nurturing strong client and industry relationships, with a focus on healthcare, science and technology, and manufacturing markets.
Bennett’s approach emphasizes aligning construction solutions with clients’ strategic goals, expanding McCarthy’s reach and identifying opportunities for meaningful partnerships.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from the University of Northern Colorado.
BRAD SCHOEN, VICE PRESIDENT, PRECONSTRUCTION
Brad Schoen joined McCarthy in 2006 as Preconstruction Manager and has steadily advanced within the company. In addition to leading McCarthy’s preconstruction efforts, including technical review, estimating, scheduling, value analysis, and construction planning, he remains involved during construction to support change order analysis and subcontractor negotiations. Focused on customer satisfaction, he works closely with design teams to develop constructible solutions that maximize value and minimize cost, leveraging national benchmarks and cost data from similar projects.
Schoen will lead all facets of the team’s preconstruction efforts to ensure projects receive seamless, client-focused services during the design phase.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from the University of Central Missouri.
