The commercial real estate market in Columbus remains a resilient one, with several sectors — including multifamily, retail and industrial — holding strong while even the beleaguered office sector shows signs of improvement.

That’s the big takeaway from Midwest Real Estate News’ 12th annual Columbus Commercial Real Estate Summit held July 30 at The Grand Event Center in Columbus.

Speakers at the summit focused on both the challenges that the Columbus market faces and the success stories that it has enjoyed.

The first panel of the summit, the Apartment Market Update & Forecast: Opportunities & Challenges session, focused on the resilient nature of the Columbus-area multifamily sector. Speaking on the panel were Don Brunner, President & CEO, BRG Realty Group, LLC (Moderator); Aaron Pechota, Executive Vice President, The NRP Group; Paul Kiebler, Founder & CEO, Pepper Pike Capital Partners; Dalia Kalgreen, VP of Business Relations, Unified Residential Management; and Noelle Smith, Operations Sales Experience Manager, Redwood.

Participating in the Columbus Market Sector Update: Industrial, Office, Retail, Investment, Construction panel were Craig Miller, President and Managing Partner, Duffy + Duffy Cost Segregation Services; Sydney Federer, VP, Retail Leasing & Principal Broker, CASTO; Matthew Drane, Chief Revenue Officer and Senior Managing Director, Verti Commercial Real Estate (Moderator); Domenic Skunda, Executive Director, Industrial Brokerage, Cushman & Wakefield; Jake Roby, Director of Business Development, Miles-McClellan Construction; and Paul Krimm, President/Principal, Colliers.

The Transforming Downtown and Suburban Development—Game Changers panel focused on the biggest new developments in the Columbus area. Participants in this panel were Mark Brahm, Area Manager, Cortland (Moderator); Luke Fleming, Economic Development Administrator, City of Dublin, Ohio; Mark Lundine, Economic Development Administrator, City of Columbus; Skip Weiler, President, The Robert Weiler Company; and Isaac Gold, Principal, Gen4.
