The Chicago Chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) and the SIOR Foundation has awarded five scholarships totaling $15,000. The Chicago Chapter of SIOR 2017 Scholarship Committee included Sean Henrick, SIOR of Cushman & Wakefield and Schain Banks Kenny & Schwartz’s Jim Hochman.
The recipients were Tracy Collins, Roosevelt University; Sean Henrick, SIOR, Cushman & Wakefield; Mohammed Ali Khan, University of Illinois; Eric Richard, Roosevelt University; Kevin Tazalla, Northwestern University and Lindsey White, DePaul University. Each of the five students received a scholarship of $3,000.
Since 1984, the SIOR Chicago Chapter has provided nearly $185,000 in real estate scholarships to 79 students. The program recognizes and rewards outstanding academic performance in business and real estate courses. In addition to education funding, recipients are also provided access to career opportunities and internship programs available within the Chicago real estate community. Professor Roger Cannaday, associate professor emeritus at University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign helped create the SIOR Chicago Scholarship award.
The SIOR Foundation’s mission is to promote and support initiatives that expand, educate and enrich the commercial real estate community. Established in 1962 to publish the industry’s first graduate level textbook on industrial real estate, the SIOR Foundation has maintained its dedication to expanding an understanding of the commercial real estate industry. The Foundation has a matching scholarship program available to the various local SIOR Chapters.
