St. Louis Park, Minn.-based Stahl Construction Co. recently opened a new office in metropolitan Des Moines. The company also hired four new employees at the firm’s Minneapolis-area headquarters. The moves allow the general contracting and construction management firm to better serve $150 million in new projects now under way in Iowa, Nebraska and Minnesota.
The new branch, in Urbandale, Iowa, was added to meet the needs of Stahl’s growing number of clients in Iowa and Nebraska. The office is currently overseeing nearly $93 million in construction projects under contract in the two states. It is headed by new Stahl project manager Bill Harger, who previously managed the Waukee, Iowa, office of Oakview dck LLC.
Stahl’s Iowa projects include the renovation of Urbandale Middle School, with upgrades to the existing facility and a 68,000-square-foot addition; and construction of the new Ankeny Centennial High School, Fort Madison Middle School and city of Council Bluffs public works building.
In Nebraska, Stahl is engaged in two projects in Bennington: building a new elementary school in the Heritage development and a two-story auditorium addition at the high school.
Last year, Stahl completed construction of Iowa State University’s new Biorenewables Research Laboratory in Ames, recipient of LEED® Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Stahl’s other past work in Iowa has included several hotel, retail, commercial and agricultural facilities in the Des Moines area, Waterloo, Stuart and Woodbine.
