Colliers International in Ohio formed “Team Colliers” and participated in Pelotonia ’12 Bike Ride to End Cancer on Aug. 11 in Columbus, Ohio. This is the second year the commercial real estate firm has participated in the bike ride, and nine riders from the Ohio offices, and their spouses, rode routes ranging from 25 miles in one day to 180 miles over the course of two days.
Thousands of riders made the trek with 100 percent of the funds directly contributed to cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center — James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. For the 2012 ride, the Colliers International team raised more than $18,000 for cancer research and in 2011, riders and donors helped to raise more than $15,000, resulting in a combined total of more than $33,000.
“This year we had more participants, donors and riders participate from our Ohio team than the year before,” said James Garrett Jr., MCR, chief operating officer | Ohio. “We are proud of the overwhelming support internally and, most of all, for funds our team raised which will go directly to cancer research.”
For the 2012 ride, the total fundraising goal is $15 million and the donation deadline is Oct. 12. Over the past three years, thousands of riders have raised more than $25 million for cancer research.
Colliers International in Greater Cincinnati had riders participate in the ride in August: Paul Plattner, CPM, senior vice president, John Stegemoller, RPA, senior property manager, Brian Graham, CCIM, brokerage associate and director of research and Jennifer Plattner rode as part of the Colliers Peloton. The Cincinnati office teamed up with four additional riders from Colliers International in the Greater Columbus Region: Christopher Potts, brokerage first vice president | Principal, Brett Cisler, brokerage senior vice president | principal, Judith Hutchinson, corporate accountant, Theresa Thompson, marketing administrative assistant, and Bud Abraham.
