Command Transportation Services has leased 19,000 square feet of office space at 5500 W. Howard St. in Skokie, a two-story, 60,000-square-foot office building prominently fronting the I-94 Expressway. The new location will function as the TI83 PLUS Special Operation’s Group headquarters. The Alter Group owns the Class A office building.
Command Transportation is a rapidly growing freight broker, providing transportation solutions across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Command is the middleman between businesses that need products shipped and the transportation companies who move those products. Command Transportation has grown year after year since its incorporation in 2005 and currently is listed as a Top 25 Freight Brokerage Firm by Transport Topics.
“The location of 5500 W. Howard is the ideal spot for any office building with suburban and urban commuters,” said owner Paul Loeb. “Just off the highway, it has quick accessibility to and from any Chicagoland neighborhood, yet has the convenience to local streets and nearby restaurants and other amenities. With a sneak-peak on traffic conditions from their windows, plus the accessibility of a large two-way street as opposed to the one-way in our current location, 5500 W. Howard has many features that Command employees will appreciate.”
Bryan Farquhar, vice president, and Matthew Ward, senior vice president of The Alter Group, represented the owner. The transaction brings 5500 W. Howard to 100 percent occupancy.
Designed by architect Helmut Jahn, formerly of the Chicago-based architectural firm of C.F. Murphy Associates Inc., the 5500 W. Howard St. building features a solid black glass curtain-wall exterior, with 30,000-square-foot floor sizes and 10-foot ceilings in the interior. The nine-acre site provides 4:1,000 parking for all employees and visitors.
