Riis Borg has announced the completion of the new WGN Radio and office additions on the seventh floor of the Tribune Tower at 435 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago. This was a joint effort between WGN engineers and Riis Borg Construction of Chicago. The new location adds more workspace including relocated offices, sales area, news departments and studios.
The radio station has been located on the first floor of the Tribune Tower since 1986 when it originally moved from the Bradley Place. The new studio replaces the old analogy technology with a state-of-the-art fully integrated digital system. This transition between broadcast systems occurred on July 30, 2012. The “showcase” broadcast studio overlooking Michigan Avenue and Pioneer Court will remain in place.
