With the help of Akron, Ohio-based NAI Cummins Real Estate, Summit Academy Management, the management arm of Summit Academy Schools, recently acquired the Carlet Plaza retail center in East Akron. Summit will use the site as a future home for its school.
The plaza’s anchor tenant, Sears Hardware, left the retail center in 2012. The only remaining tenant at the plaza is Great Clips.
Summit Academy Schools are non-profit and designed to address the social, emotional and academic needs of students with AD/HD, Autism Spectrum Disorders and related disorders. Summit Academy operates 27 schools across Ohio.
Carlet Plaza covers 31,800 square feet and sits on 3.3 acres. The selling price was $565,000.
