Stone Arch Apartments has partnered with Nice Ride Minnesota to give Section 42 residents a free year-long bicycle-sharing membership.
Interested residents from Stone Arch were invited to an hour-long informational session that included a test drive of the bikes. Upon completion, they were each awarded an electronic card reader to access the bikes and a helmet for safety.
Nice Ride Minnesota is a seasonally operated nonprofit bicycle-sharing system in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Launched in 2010, it served more than 10,000 trips in its first month and reached 100,817 rides in its first season of operation. The bicycles in the system are painted bright neon green and include a cargo carrier and headlights.
The system presently offers 1,550 bicycles for rent at 170 solar-powered kiosks in both Minneapolis and western St. Paul. As of 2011 it was the second-largest bike-share system in the country.
Stone Arch is owned by Lupe Development & Wall Companies and is managed by Pinnacle.
