Kraus-Anderson Construction Company recently completed the first and second phases of additions and remodeling of the existing 202,000-square-foot high school located at 223 1st Ave. SE, in Pine Island, Minn. The school, which serves grades five through 12, has had multiple additions since it was originally built in 1934.
Designed by Wendel Architects, the $16.75 million project features a new 13,085-square-foot, 608-seat auditorium addition, which was built inside the existing courtyard; new 13,813-square-foot group learning center addition; relocated fitness center; football field and stadium improvements; and renovations to existing school. In addition, the project also includes mechanical, lighting and security camera upgrades, new fire protection/sprinkler system, and remodel to the district office, cafeteria and commons, and STEM labs.
Kraus-Anderson worked directly with the school district, architect and engineers, and provided master budgeting updates and scheduling for the district’s entire $39.75 million referendum fund, which included a new $23 million pre-K-grade-4 building, as well as improvements at the existing grade 5-12 high school.
