An Amazon fulfillment center will soon be rising in the city of Lakeville, Minneosta.
At its Oct. 19 meeting, the Lakeville City Council unanimously approved the final plat for Interstate South Logistics Park’s third addition, a project proposed by Indianapolis commercial developer Scannell Properties. The company will develop a 750,000-square-foot fulfillment/distribution center on the nearly created 72-acre site for Amazon.
The property is located at the southwest corner of County Road 70 and Dodd Boulevard.
Amazon’s new operations facility will be used to pick, pack and ship larger customer items such as mattresses, grills and exercise equipment. The new facility will create several hundred new jobs and is anticipated to be completed in August of 2021.
“On behalf of the City of Lakeville, we are pleased Amazon has decided to open a distribution location in our community,” said Lakeville Mayor Doug Anderson, in a statement. “This facility means new opportunities for jobs for our citizens, increased tax base for our community and the addition of a great corporate partner.”
