Academy Bank has entered into a lease agreement with Corrigan Station, an entity affiliated with Copaken Brooks and 3D Development, to locate a new full-service banking center in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District in Kansas City, Missouri.
The new branch will be located adjacent to a street car stop at the corner of 19th and Main streets in Kansas City. Subject to regulatory approval, Academy Bank expects to open the banking center in early 2019.
Academy Bank will serve as the anchor tenant in this new Crossroads project, occupying about 5,000 square feet of space on the ground floor of the 23,000-square-foot building to be constructed in 2018.
The interior of the banking center will include a central lounge-style environment with a coffee bar and charging stations for clients’ convenience and a community room for use by local business, civic and philanthropic groups that includes meeting space and conferencing, available at no charge.
The Crossroads site will advance Academy Bank’s growth strategy of building out its Kansas City footprint, which includes the opening of the Fairway, Kansas, banking center in 2016; the merger with Merit Bank in mid-2017 incorporating locations in Olathe and Overland Park, Kansas; and the planned 2018 banking center opening at Westchester Square in Lenexa, Kansas.
“We are very excited to welcome Academy Bank as our first tenant of the second phase of Corrigan Station,” said John Coe, senior vice president at Copaken Brooks, in a statement. “The innovation and customer appreciation Academy Bank will bring to the building complements Corrigan Station’s many amenities and prime location.”
