Adolfson & Peterson Construction recently completed the Clements Hall Scholars Den renovation on the campus of Dallas’ Southern Methodist University (SMU).
The Scholars Den supports the SMU Honors and Scholars community. AP renovated 6,411 square feet of space including the lobby areas, office spaces, study rooms, meeting rooms and a lounge area. The renovation provides interior upgrades, enhancements and improvements to ensure the space fosters academic growth and technological functionality.
AP’s scope involved a comprehensive transformation, including installing new decorative metal panels, millwork, quartz countertops, wood paneling, linear wood ceiling panels, trims, doors and a glass railing system. Further, the project also encompassed new flooring, tiling, painting, appliances, an ADA wheelchair lift, fire protection, MEP systems, communication setups, AV systems, HVAC and electrical improvements, as well as electronic safety and security systems.
The Scholars Den serves as the host location for SMU’s Honors & Scholars community, including the Hilltop Scholars Program, the Rotunda Scholars Program, the University Honors Program, the Mustang Scholars Program, and the President’s Scholars Program, as well as the Office of Engaged Learning. Located on Mockingbird Lane in the heart of Dallas, SMU is a nationally ranked private university with more than 12,000 students.
AP has worked on several higher education projects across the state of Texas, with current and past projects including The University of Texas Permian-Basin, Midland College, the University of North Texas, The University of Texas in Austin and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Office of Moran Architects (OOMA) served as the architect on the renovation project.
