Aeon, a nonprofit developer, owner and manager of almost 6,000 affordable homes across the Twin Cities market, is expanding to Big Lake, Minnesota.
On Dec. 28 of last year, Aeon closed on Goldenrod Glen, new construction that will become a seniors housing property.
A few years ago, Big Lake’s primary senior housing building transitioned to exclusively assisted living. To meet the needs of seniors aged 55+ who do not need assistance, Aeon began assembling financing for Goldenrod Glen. Now, with funding from MN Housing and US Bank, the project can begin.
Goldenrod Glen will be constructed next to the Big Lake Station of the North Star Commuter Rail, addressing the need for transportation accessibility among the senior community. The 74-unit property will also feature indoor and outdoor community spaces.
