AEW playing key role in development on site of former Tiger stadium

Anderson, Eckstein & Westrick, an architecture, design and engineering services firm, is a critical player on the construction team for The Corner, the $30 million Corktown mixed-use development on the site of the former Tiger Stadium.

Michigan and Trumbull has been one of Detroit’s most exciting intersections since the Tigers first called it home in 1912. Now, Larson Realty Group development will bring new life to the corner with a four-story residential and retail development adjacent to the Police Athletic League’s Corner ballpark. Troy-based O’Brien Construction Co, the project’s general contractor, and Champion Commercial Services, the fabricator, selected AEW to provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural design and drafting for the modular portion of the apartment building.

With modular apartments, many of the individual components are constructed off-site, therefore they aren’t exposed to the elements and can be built and inspected in a tightly controlled environment. Still, those modular pieces need to be perfectly interconnected and unified into a single, cohesive structure.
