On Nov. 12 at its last regularly scheduled luncheon meeting of the year, the Association of Industrial Real Estate Brokers (AIRE) will take part in the annual Thanks For Giving Food Drive to benefit those less fortunate.
For nearly a decade AIRE has hosted this event ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday and has been enormously successful in then providing hundreds of pounds of canned goods and hundreds of dollars in cash. The Thanks For Giving food drive annually is coordinated by Elise Couston, principal, Paine Wetzel, and Sheri Tantari, senior vice president, The McShane Companies.
“The Thanks For Giving Food Drive, along with the Toys for Tots Drive in December, are mainstays of AIRE’s charitable initiatives,” said Tom Boyle, president of AIRE and a principal at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank. “Over the years, in good times and bad, AIRE members and associates have been extremely generous with their contributions, and have made the holidays a little bit brighter for those in need.”
Attendees to the AIRE November luncheon, which will feature a market round-up and end of the year forecast, are encouraged to bring non-perishable items and/or cash contributions. Volunteers will be on hand to accept boxes and grocery bags of food stuffs and cash or checks for the purchase of food items.
While the Thanks For Giving food drive is an important element of the day, the regular meeting will feature a comprehensive market update covering deal velocity summary, hot market areas, where to build an 80,000-square-foot multi-tenant facility, a build-to-suit summary and cap rates effect on lease rates and lease rate trends, among other areas. Included in the panel will be Dave Prioletti, CBRE; David Friedland, Newmark Grubb Knight Frank; Walter Murphy, Lee & Associates of Illinois; and Steve Connolly, NAI Hiffman. It will be moderated by Boyle.
“It’s been a respectable year in industrial real estate,” Boyle said. “With activity levels fairly strong in sizes ranging upward from 30,000 square feet and across virtually all submarkets, many in the industry share the sentiment that it is once again fun to be in industrial real estate.”
The November luncheon program will take place from 11:30 a.m. to just after 1 p.m. at the Rosewood Café in Rosemont. Broker and associate members are asked to pre-register to ensure there is a reserved spot for the luncheon and round-up program. Reservations can be made by calling the association’s administrative offices at (630) 510-4554.
