Downtown Akron, Ohio, is welcoming its first new hotel in more than three decades. The Hilton Garden Inn celebrated its grand-opening at 1307 E. Market St. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Nov. 18.
State and local leaders attended the event, as did representatives from Industrial Realty Group.
The hotel is part of the East End redevelopment of the former Goodyear world headquarters in Akron. The 139-room hotel and conference facility features an indoor pool and hut tub, business center, meeting room and banquet services.
“We’re very excited about this,” said Akron City Council president Garry Moneypenny, in a statement. “The hotel will not only add to East Akron and the former Goodyear property, but the whole city and downtown.”
