Retail specialist George Flynn with Anchor Associates in Cincinnati recently brokered the sale of the Macy’s Department Store in the affluent Upper Arlington area of Ohio.
Flynn represented Macy’s Retail Holdings, Inc., which is closing the store in March. The store’s closing is pursuant to the company’s restructuring and is in conjunction with the closure of 13 other locations nationwide.
The buyer was the Kroger Company, which hasn’t yet submitted its development plan to the city. The 6.2-acre site is zoned for mixed-use and is contiguous to the Kingsdale Shopping Center anchored by the Pittsburgh-based grocer Giant Eagle.
