ARCO National Construction’s Detroit division has completed a 21,515-square-foot cold storage expansion for Weeks Food Corporation, a fifth-generation, family-owned wholesale food distributor serving customers across Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.
Located at 36901 Division Road in Richmond, Michigan, the project enhances next-day service for beef, pork, poultry, seafood, and frozen products.
The finished project includes a 10,231 SF 34°F–36°F cooler, a 6,232 SF 36°F cold dock, and a 4,795 SF -10°F freezer. Site development involved new city utility connections and removal of the existing sanitary field system. Additional features consist of fire-rated insulated metal panels to separate cold storage spaces, six dock positions, a freon refrigeration system, a 1,200-amp electrical service, and a 28-foot clear height to maximize storage capacity.
Weeks Food Corporation has operated for more than 100 years, building its reputation on quality service, trusted partnerships, and family ownership that spans five generations. Throughout construction, the company remained fully operational in its existing facility, ensuring uninterrupted service to customers while the new expansion was underway.
ARCO National Construction provided full design-build services, managing the project from concept through completion. With a national portfolio of more than 585 food and beverage projects totaling over 75 million square feet, ARCO brings unmatched expertise in cold storage construction.
