Arthur J. Rogers & Co. recently completed a lease for a 491,120-square-foot build-to-suit on behalf of DHL Global Forwarding near O’Hare International Airport in Chicago. The $35 million project on a 24-acre parcel north of the airport recently broke ground.
The new Global Forwarding Center for DHL, the largest facility for the firm in the nation, will include 53,000 square feet of office space and a 423,030-square-foot warehouse and accommodate more than 500 employees. DHL Global Forwarding chose the location near O’Hare due to the business advantages provided by the proximity of the airport, and for the opportunity to construct a larger space to maximize its operational functionality. Jeanne Rogers represented DHL Global Forwarding in the lease negotiations and Ken Franzese and John Cassidy of Lee & Associates represented ownership.
Scheduled for completion in fall 2014, the facility will encompass a Foreign Trade Zone and bonded Container Freight Station. Aeroterm is developing and constructing the facility. DHL is part of the postal and logistics Group, Deutsche Post DHL and encompasses three divisions: DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding, Freight and DHL Supply Chain.
