Connexion, an electrical supply and energy advisory companyies in the Chicago area, has completed a lease for 61,000 square feet of space at 1700 Leider Lane in Buffalo Grove. Avison Young represented the tenant. The lease was announced by Michael P. McKiernan, principal and managing director of Avison Young Chicago.
Connexion supplies large electrical contractors that are involved with jobs as diverse as the new Children’s Memorial Hospital to large downtown office towers to residential home renovations. The owners of Connexion have a long history in the electrical supply business.
Connexion currently has one location in Buffalo Grove and wanted to grow the business to take advantage of the expanding market. While the company considered sites in Wisconsin, it was able to stay in Illinois based on assistance from Avison Young and incentives from the state of Illinois.
“This site provides a great opportunity for Connexion to expand its marketshare while staying close toitsexisting Chicago marketplace,” said John Hauser, principal, Avison Young, who represented Connexion in this transaction, in a release.
Connexion plans to move into its new headquarters and warehouse in August. As part of the transaction, the landlord will build out 7,100 square feet of office space to Connexion’s specifications, including adding new loading docks and racking systems in the warehouse. The warehouse features 30′ clear ceilings, an important feature for Connexion’s operations.
The property is part of the 500,000-square-foot, three building campus of Aptakisic Creek Corporate Park. The manufacturing and warehouse space was developed by Bridge Development Partners and McMorgan & Company.
