Avison Young recently held it’s Global Day of Giving where more than 100 employees from the Chicago office worked with ChildServ to refurbish, landscape and clean houses for military veterans in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood.
The team from Avison and Young also helped refresh two community gardens in the neighborhood. ChildServ’s Affordable Hoes for Heroes is built on the foundation of an affordable housing program, while providing social services to help with need specific to veteran families. A total of six families with young children are housed in newly renovated apartments in West Humboldt Park. Services offered to these families include mental health counseling, early childhood development programs, a financial literacy and property management course as well as referrals to partner agencies.
On Avison Young’s Global Day of Giving, more than 2,600 employees in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe participated in the day-long effort to help promote social, economic and environmental sustainability.
