Chicago-based Baum Realty Group, LLC, one of the Midwest’s leading retail brokerage firms, announced that outdoor apparel brand Stio has chosen 1719 N. Damen Avenue for the home of its first Chicago location. The newly constructed 1,470 square foot store is scheduled to open in early 2015.

Baum Realty Group Principal Janika Brenner represented the landlord, Reel Estate Adventures, LLC, while JLL Executive Vice President Lew Kornburg and Vice President Jason Press arranged the retail lease on behalf of Stio. The Jackson Hole, Wyoming based clothier designs and manufactures outdoor apparel for men, women and children with an ethos described as “mountain town cool meets technical backcountry function.” Stio Founder/CEO Stephen Sullivan commented, “We are super excited to launch our second retail storefront in the vibrant Bucktown neighborhood and are confident our unique brand position will resonate with the Chicago consumer. We can’t wait to bring a bit of Jackson Hole mountain soul to such a great community.”

Previously home to Tangerine, 1719 N. Damen sat vacant for less than 90 days. According to Baum’s Brenner, “Damen Avenue continues to be one of Chicago’s hottest retail streets. National retailers see this as the premiere location in Chicago to roll out emerging concepts.” Brenner has had a hand in more than 15 transactions throughout Bucktown and Wicker Park, including deals on Damen this year with neighboring Peek Kids and TOMS.

“Stio will be a welcome addition to the fashion mix on Damen,” said Brenner. “The brand appeals to men, women and children with active lifestyles – definitely the Bucktown neighborhood shopper.”
