BEAR Construction is proud to support the opening of the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago’s Rusu-McCartin Club. The first newly built Club in a generation, located on Chicago’s West Side, the Rusu-McCartin Boys & Girls Club will serve thousands of kids with high-quality programming and be a reliable community resource for generations.
The 23,000-square-foot building began construction in May of 2022 and opened for the first time last week, on track from a construction schedule standpoint despite material shortages stemming from the lasting impacts of the pandemic. This, project, complex from a construction standpoint, features a number of amenities. The new building includes ample gym space, educational programming space, a maker’s space for creative exploration and an NBA-sized basketball court.
The project will not only bring a new community amenity to the area, but supported the growth of local jobs as well. BEAR Construction leveraged 55,000 human hours to build the project, creating about 150 jobs on-site for the construction process.
