Savills confirmed a relocation and expansion for a new client, BearingPoint. The fast-growing independent management and technology consultancy firm moved to a nearly 12,000-square-foot full floor at The Mart located at 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza in River North. The firm relocated in December 2022.
BearingPoint is headquartered in Europe and has invested heavily in its international expansion, including Chicago, which doubles as the firm’s U.S. hub. The firm needed to grow its footprint to accommodate an increased headcount and tapped Savills Connor Kerr and Stephen Scott to discover a solution in the River North submarket, where BearingPoint sought to remain.
The Mart provides BearingPoint with a fully built-out space. The office consists of individual workstations, a large café and lounge, two conference rooms, private work areas, and multiple collaboration spaces. The location at The Mart situates the firm in the center of River North and provides seamless access to the CTA station and amenities, including a food hall, green areas, and multiple retail outlets.
The Mart is the world’s largest commercial building and design center, spanning two city blocks and rising 25 stories. Owner Vornado Realty Trust is completing a $60 million renovation of the building, including a new 27,000-square-foot amenity space and conference center, a second 23,5000-square-foot gym, and a lounge. The property recently received major modifications to its elevators, monumental stairs, and additional amenity areas. The renovation is expected for completion in late 2023.
