BKV Group added Jill Schroeder as senior planner working out of the company’s Minneapolis practice site.
An industry leader with 27 years of experience, most recently with Pope Design Group, Schroeder will support BKV’s continued growth in the senior living space.
Leading the design-build process from pre-development through completion, including the coordination and integration of mechanical, electrical and structural engineering disciplines within the interior context, Schroeder has worked on a wide range of properties, including senior living communities, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, battered-women’s shelters, and diverse healthcare environments including palliative care and hospice units, long-term-care memory support, skilled care, basic care or assisted living models and short-stay therapy facilities designed to increase outpatient services while carefully supporting the existing staff of each operator.
Schroeder also brings expertise in evaluating building code applications and adherence, contributing to the national Facility Guidelines Institute 2018 publication of all three guideline reference sets: hospitals; outpatient facilities; and residential health, care and support facilities.
Eager to contribute to the field of knowledge, Schroeder also works closely with industry manufacturers’ R&D teams to develop tools to help improve quality of life for seniors. In addition, she frequently speaks on wellness-related issues for regional and national conferences and events, including those hosted by Environments for Aging, the Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), and LeadingAge.
Schroeder holds a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and has since earned several industry credentials and certifications. She currently serves on FGI’s Healthcare Guidelines Revision Committee and as President of SAGE, a multidisciplinary membership consisting of aging service providers, design professionals, regulators, residents, researchers, manufacturers, educators and students. She also served as Vice Chair of the Residential Health Subcommittee for FGI’s Emergency Conditions white paper, issued in July 2021.
