A groundbreaking ceremony was recently held for the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Facility being constructed at Grand Avenue and County Line Road in Bensenville, Illinois. This event celebrated the official start of construction on the 114,140-square-foot, air supported indoor sports training center. Jeffrey Provenza, vice president of Darwin Realty, was the sole broker in the transaction.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2019 on what will be the third Bo Jackson Elite Sports Facility in the United States and the second in Illinois. Triumph Construction is the general contractor on the project and the architect is Charles Smith at Arete Design Studio. The facility is designed to accommodate year-round training for turf sports like baseball, soccer, football and lacrosse and will also include a track, weight room and a climbing wall.
“The owners of the property are very happy to have Bo Jackson Elite Sports as a long-term tenant on the site,” said Provenza. “The stellar reputation and future long-term success of BJES will have an enormous positive impact on surrounding Bensenville community.”
During the ceremony, sports legend Vincent “Bo” Jackson and village president Frank DeSimone addressed stakeholders, village officials and village staff by thanking them and expressing their excitement for the project.
“This facility serves as a fantastic addition to the existing amateur sports-related assets we have in Bensenville like the Edge Ice Arenas and the Redmond Recreational Complex,” said DeSimone. “Being a baseball travel dad myself and having a facility where I can send my son to learn from these professionals speaks volumes. I believe that once this corner is fully developed with the dome, hotels and retail, it will be a destination where Chicagoland can come to live, work and play.”
