Boyd Stofer, chief executive officer of Twin Cities’ Marquette Real Estate Group, dies

Boyd Stofer

The Twin Cities unexpectedly lost one of its real estate leaders today when Boyd Stofer, chief executive officer and chairman of Marquette Real Estate Group, passed away in Arizona.

Stofer was 62.

In a statement, the Pohlad Cos. — Stofer served as the top executive of the Pohlad Cos.’ real estate holdings — said that Stofer died of natural causes while vacationing in Phoenix. The company has not yet released any additional information regarding Stofer’s death.

Marquette Real Estate Group is an important company in the Twin Cities. The company’s holdings include United Properties, NorthMarq Capital, RJM Construction and Cushman & Wakefield/NorthMarq Real Estate Services.

In a written statement, Jim Pohlad, executive vice president of Marquette Financial Companies, said that Stofer will be missed.

“Boyd exemplified excellence in everything he did as the architect and leader of our real estate group,” Pohlad said. “It is a terrible loss for all of us who were fortunate enough to know Boyd and to have worked side by side with him. Our hearts, prayers and support go out to his family.”

Stofer joined the Marquette family of companies in 1978 as a project developer with United Properties.
