The American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) has elevated Abbie Clary to its prestigious College of Fellows—the highest membership honor awarded to ACHA Board-certified architects. Based in Chicago, Clary serves as co-director of CannonDesign’s health practice.
Clary has devoted her career to working on projects that solve the most pressing challenges—breaking down the social determinants of health, helping people regain abilities after traumatic injuries, pushing health systems to completely upend their care delivery strategies to keep pace with change and more. She’s done this while guiding the firm’s health practice through its own transformation and contributing to the industry at large through knowledge sharing and advocacy, specifically for women in the profession.
“Abbie exemplifies the characteristics required of Fellowship: the innovative projects she has led have had a national presence and impact in demonstrating the power of design and elevating healthcare environments,” said Jennifer Aliber, FAIA, FACHA, LEED AP, principal at Shepley Bulfinch and Clary’s Fellowship sponsor. “Her strategic leadership roles have shifted the arc of those organizations and reverberated more broadly in the profession—she has been devising better ways to deliver better healthcare design.”
