Cawley Chicago has successfully completed the sale and purchase of two facilities on behalf of Chicago Mattress Co. (CMC), aka 3rd Coast Mattress Recycling, in expanding their business on Chicago’s West Side. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Cawley Chicago principal, Frank Melchert and vice president, Stevan Arandjelovic represented CMC on the sale of their 100,000-square-foot facility located at 4444 W. Ohio Street, direct to an undisclosed buyer.
Melchert and Arandjelovic then aided CMC on the purchase of a 170,000-square-foot building located at 600 N. Kilbourn Avenue. Vern Schultz with Colliers International represented the seller in that transaction.
“This was a great opportunity for a long-time Chicago company to grow and expand their business, while maintaining their employee base here in Chicago. For the same reason CMC wanted to stay in Chicago, the buyer of their property wanted to enter the Chicago market. Access to good employees and proximity to Chicago’s customer density was the primary catalyst for these transactions,” said Melchert. “In the upside-down year of 2020, this is another example of the strength of Chicago’s industrial real estate market.”
