CBRE’s Kansas City office has officially moved to its new location at 4520 Main St. in Kansas City. The office of about 50 real estate professionals now occupies roughly 10,000 square feet of space on the sixth floor of the American Century Tower II building.
During the previous 10 years, the Kansas City office of CBRE occupied 13,000 square feet on the fifth floor of the Park Plaza building in Kansas City.
Before the move, the CBRE Workplace Strategies team determined that more than 50 of the cubicles at CBRE’s old offices were being used just 46 percent of the time. Employees spent large portions of their days in conference rooms or working offsite.
Armed with this information, CBRE created a new office environment in which no employee has a set desk, cubicle or office. The new office instead contains more than 40 open cubicles — open to any employee — three “focus rooms,” five “huddle rooms,” two large conference rooms and five “offices for a day.”
CBRE’s staffers can work from any of these areas.
By occupying less space, the firm was able to incorporate more state-of-the-art technology such as Crestron reservation systems, MediaScape collaboration spaces, “follow me” printing and “follow me” phone services.
“By adopting this new workplace culture, not only do we now have a state-of-the-art environment for our professionals, we can provide our clients with a working model of workspace solutions,” said Mike Klamm, CBRE Kansas City’s managing director, in a written statement.
