CBRE opens Knoxville office

CBRE has hired three new professionals in Knoxville, Tennessee, establishing the company’s brokerage presence in the market and the company’s newest Tennessee office.

Industry leaders John Adams III and Brian Tapp join as first vice presidents and will specialize in the office and industrial sectors, respectively. Andrew Wilmoth joins as a senior associate, partnering with Adams and Tapp.

All three brokers joined CBRE from Avison Young in Knoxville.

John M. Adams III is a Knoxville native with over 20 years of industry experience. His background is in office landlord and tenant representation and investment sales. Most recently, Adams was a Managing Broker at Avison Young and was a Founding Principal of Cushman & Wakefield | Cornerstone in Knoxville, which later became Avison Young.

Adams has been involved in 249 transactions totaling 2.1 million square feet and $270 million in consideration since 2016. Additionally, Adams is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designee and a member of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR). He serves on the SIOR Global Board of Directors and is the designated speaker of the SIOR Chapter Leadership Council.

Brian Tapp is a Knoxville native and brings more than 16 years of experience in commercial real estate. His expertise spans industrial sales and leasing, land assemblage for development, retail sales and leasing, tenant representation and corporate real estate services and bank “other real estate owned” dispositions. He has been involved in 108 transactions totaling $144 million since 2016.

Tapp is a CCIM designee, a member of the SIOR and involved in various local non-profits and organizations, including acting as a board member for the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce in the Government Relations and Transportation and Infrastructure committees. He is currently a Director and Commercial Chapter Chair for the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors. Tapp has also served as a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Great Smoky Mountain Council for Boy Scouts of America, Nucleus Knoxville and United Way.

Both Adams and Tapp have been involved with Nucleus Knoxville, a group that provides a forum for young Knoxville-area professionals and executives to engage with one another, as a former president and a former board member, respectively.

Andrew Wilmoth is an East Tennessee native who graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 2017. He has worked in commercial real estate since 2018 and has experience in industrial, office and net lease asset classes.
