Jim Becker and Matt Buslepp have joined CBRE’s Detroit office as Senior Vice President and First Vice President, respectively. The pair will partner and focus on office occupier representation throughout the region.
Becker comes to CBRE with over 35 years of commercial real estate experience, spanning all facets of the industry, including global portfolio strategy, transaction delivery, project management, integrated facility management and outsourcing initiatives. He joined Avison Young in October 2012 to develop the firm’s Midwest markets, successfully opening offices in Columbus, Cleveland, Minneapolis and Indianapolis. Most recently, he focused on expanding into Detroit and business development.
Previously, Becker was with JLL as International Director (2007-2012) and President, Canada (2010-2012), where he oversaw the firm’s Canadian operations, including platform repositioning, recruiting, and opening new offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa. Prior to these roles, he served at JLL as Market Director for Michigan, Ohio and Minnesota, managing six offices and over 700 employees.
Becker is Chairman of the volunteer board for Global Detroit. He also serves on the boards of the Canada – United States Business Association and CoreNet Global’s Michigan Chapter and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.
Buslepp joins CBRE with 10 years of experience in commercial real estate. Previously, he was a Vice President at Avison Young, where he started his commercial real estate career through a credited internship as a research analyst. Buslepp has extensive transactional experience in occupier services and establishing and executing commercial real estate strategies that align with operational goals across both Detroit and on a global scale.
