CenterPoint Properties announced the groundbreaking of 1,114,575 square feet of new development at CenterPoint Intermodal Center in Joliet, Illinois. The build-to-suit, cross-loaded distribution facility for Saddle Creek Logistics Services will be situated on approximately 60 acres, with ample space for car and trailer parking.
Jack Cozzie of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and Ladson Montgomery of Newmark Grubb Phoenix Realty Group represented Saddle Creek in the transaction, while Dan Leahy and Adam Roth of NAI Hiffman represented CenterPoint. CenterPoint hosted a ceremony to kick off development on July 22, which included Saddle Creek executive leadership, employees, local and regional political figures, customers and community members
Saddle Creek’s Class A, state-of-the-art building will include 32′ clear height, 132 dock doors (expandable), 4 drive-in doors, 373 car parking stalls (expandable), 328 trailer stalls, and 14,108 SF worth of office space.
CenterPoint Properties has added nearly 200 construction jobs to the local economy in the midst of this project. CenterPoint and Saddle Creek estimate that 200 permanent employees will be necessary to fill roles in manufacturing and assembly, as well as warehouse labor, at the completion of build.
